fanlisting

A fanlisting is simply an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are) - they are just a place where you can have your name listed along with other fans of the same subject.

Spica

The song Spica is part of the 13th single of Maaya Sakamoto. The song is used as an insert song in Episode 43 of the anime Tsubasa Chronicle, from which Kazemachi Jet, the other song in the single, originates from as an ending song. The two songs are meant to be connected to each other, and that's why I decided to open a fanlisting for each of them. The title, "260 light years", refers to the name of the song, since Spica, also known as Alpha Virginis, is a constellation, and 260 light years is the distance from Earth. Also, since Kazemachi Jet and Spica, according to Maaya Sakamoto, represent the perspectives of the two main characters of the series (Syaoran and Sakura), I wanted to give them a title which could be read as one even if it's two separate ones. Since Spica is Sakura's song, the meaning of the distance is that she tries to reach out to the memories she lost of the people she loves, but she can't manage to because of this distance. The Kazemachi Jet fanlisting is named "Reach out to me" since it's Syaoran's song, and he's waiting for Sakura to regain her lost memories and reach him 260 light years away. In Japanese, the Spica is also called the "Pearl Star" for its beauty and is associated with spring nights, when it can be seen sparkling with a blue and white glow in the sky. Maaya probably intends the title to be something representing Sakura.

translation

Thank you for being here with me now
With you seeming like a bird that can’t sing, I feel just a bit of pain in my chest

Sometimes I see your face fall in loneliness
I want to know about even the weakness inside your kindness

Please, tell me why you’re so afraid of something happening to me
Please, tell me if there’s anything I can do
so that you’ll smile

When I touched your hand, it was strange, but
I felt like we’d already met once, somewhere far away

Because I clearly recognize now that
things like knives and hatred just won’t break down as long as they exist

Please, don’t take away even your sadness
All the days that we’ve lived so far have left their mark on me
There isn’t even one memory I don’t need

I want to be brought up with you, spinning our threads, holding each other tight, forever and ever
in the beginning world, the beginning melody

Murmur it one more time, the name of that distant, faraway city
“Please, so it’s like you’re showing me the way”
I held on tight to it

Please, don’t hide away how you’re so afraid of something happening to me
Now there’s a light we can depend on, but
it’s definitely because you’re by my side
